Leptopodia atra (König ex Fr.) Boud. Schwarze Lorchel. Cup 1.5–3cm high, folded back on itself into a twisted flattened dark-brown to blackish disc shape, with paler light grey underside. Stem 30–65 x 3–7mm, pallid clay colour, concolorous with cap or darker, slightly twisted, tough and full of white pith. Asci 250 x 15µ. Spores broadly elliptical, 17–18 x 11–12µ. Habitat mixed woodland. Season summer to autumn. Occasional. Edibility unknown. Distribution, America and Europe. |
